MPLAB 8.x is the last version of the legacy MPLAB IDE technology, custom built by Microchip Technology in Microsoft Visual C++. MPLAB supports project management, editing, debugging and programming of Microchip 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit PICmicrocontrollers. MPLAB only works on Microsoft Windows. MPLAB is still available from Microchip's archives, but is not recommended for new projects.[18]

Hey guys, just joined the forums.
I have been using my JTAG ICE MkII for programming and debugging code to an ATMEGA32 through my secondary computer which runs Windows 10, but I'd LOVE IT if I could use this debugger as flawlessly on my macbook pro (2015).
I've come to understand that using JTAG on macOS is not quite as streamlined, if even possible, but I had a few ideas that I hope someone can either confirm or deny:
Is it possible to run Windows through bootcamp on a Mac and use the JTAG with the same ease as on a native Windows computer?
If not - what do?? I've read that it's possible to at least compile code to AVR chips simply using an Arduino board, but I really like the debugging capability of the JTAG. Also aware that VirtualBox is a possibility but that seems like a really clunky sollution.
